I love Wool Cotton!

posted Tuesday, 30 November 2004

Thank you for all the good wishes. The funeral was hard, but the Pastor spoke of her life and the impact she had on others and it was so wonderful to remember the good times. He allowed those in attendance to say something if they felt led. After a few had spoken her oldest great-grandson stood up and said, "She was the best grandma there ever was". He was so cute. It may have rained throughout the visit to the cememtary, but I considered them tears of joy from heaven, the angels were rejoicing.

After having dinner with the family we came home and crashed. Younger was really upset, and I felt washed out from all the emotion. I thought I would fall asleep before 7:00 pm, but I finally pulled out the slippers and finished the 2nd pair. Now they both are ready for felting and then shipping off to Scotland.

Then I pulled out the Wool Cotton from Bliss and made by Bliss (Debbie, that is). I wasn't sure I wanted to work with cotton right now. It wears on my fingers sometimes. Well, not this one! I guess that wool content is just the thing to make my fingers forget it's got cotton. I did a quick swatch on US4's, too many sts/perfect on rows. So grabbed my US5's and started the sleeve. Well, it's now same number of sts but too few rows. I think I am gonna grab the US4's again and start the other sleeve and work it up to the same point, compare, see which is the best and go with it. I am making the 6 month size, but I am thinking it might not be the best size for the weather? It would just be hitting summer. But it is wool/cotton, and most of our lives are lived in AC nowadays. So maybe it will be OK. I guess I will look at the numbers and see what yardage I have. I have 3 balls of red and 2 of blue and cream. To make a large size I need 3 balls of blue and one of each other. So I am thinking, blue and cream for the star front, red and cream stripe for the sleeves, and then blue and red stripes for the back? I really wanted to do the body in the round as much as possible, but with stripes on the back that means flat knitting. Oh well, it will be what it wants to be! Never mind the fact the pattern is on US5's and the yarn is for US3's. Why can't I learn to use the yarn suggested? Because I have stash that works in so well with this look!

Now to get my day going. Need to return/exchange boots I bought yesterday. Mine were too large, even though I tried them on in the store, and Youngers were too. Elder's were just a tad too large, but her feet were fine, so we kept hers. I also need to run up to get some Cascade 220 for manly slippers for my brothers. Need to drop a birthday surprise by the hospital for Bliss, hooray, her hubby is in his own room! And then tutor, Dr visit and then felting class. Man this busy week really came up quick. I guess I was so busy with the Holiday and the funeral I didn't really look at my schedule until Sunday. Then it was a rude awakening.

I am off, hoping you have a wonderful day and an even better tomorrow!
