It's not just a time waster. You actually get something for your effort. Oh, yeah, I knew that all along, but sometimes you seem to knit and knit and never get anywhere. Sometimes it's because what you already knit wasn't right and it had to be ripped back. Sometimes it's just because the size of the project is making the effort seem so long. It could be that you really aren't feeling the love of the project and have avoidance issues, so it isn't the knitting that is taking so long, it's the "not knitting" of the knit item that draws out the knitting. Did that make sense to anyone but me?
Right now I have too many items that fall in the avoidance category, but I am not here to discuss that. And I don't have anything that really is an issue due to it's size, well, except for Lady Eleanor, which is also suffering form AI too. So, it's something that is wrong and has to be ripped back? Nope, except for the 2nd Caryl's Kerchief, which I basically just ripped out and haven't started again. I was only a few inches into it anyway. So, it isn't any of those, what is it?
Have I confused you as much as I have confused myself?
The problem is, I have tooooooo many items to knit! All of them want to be done right now, but all of them want to be knit on, so none of them seem to get enough "me" time to come to their ends. I have the second Lace Fichu which just needs 50 some-odd points knit. The points go quick at this point, having already knit 60+ pf them between the two projects. There is the darling Baby Surprise Jacket that is just needing the skirt knit and the "button bands" done. 1 evening of knitting would knock it out. But then, all those ends to weave! And the afore mentioned Caryl's Kerchief was a big focus for a few days, started twice, ripped twice. And throw in the desire to pull out the new kit and just cast it on right now! Which I think I will end up doing this week, since I ripped out CK. Will nothing get finished soon?
Actually, I am halfway done with a new knitting. It's been in the queue for a long time, and with school coming to a close, I do need to get it done. I am making felted clogs for the Elem School Principal. She's been there for most of Younger's time there, and since all of the secretaries have a hand knit item, she deserves her turn. I love the color combo, a Cascade Quatro and a solid. Hope the colors stay distinct when it felts. When I saw that my CK plans weren't working out (using two yarns I was trying to alternate every row. Yep, that made for purl rows in pattern. Yikes!) I decided I needed to pick something from the queue, rather than just cast on a certain new kit. This was at the top of the list, so it won. Right above it is the reminder that I need to finish Lady E by Sept!*
So, when I finish these today or tomorrow, what will I add or work on to finish? Who knows. Not even I can predict that! But knitting it will be. Two soccer games this week, knitting night on Thursday and knitting morning on Wednesday, all will make for good opportunity to knit. We will see how much actually gets DONE!
* for the recipients birthday!
