Meet Stripey

posted Saturday, 22 July 2006

See me? I am the next baby sweater in this summer's line up. I was supposed to be a pullover, and as you can see I am just going around in circles, but not forever. I am also a test post for the crazy lady who is knitting me. She didn't even know she had the ability to float me and wrap her text around me. But thanks to Lori, html code specialist, and the lovely people at Blog-City, I am sitting here next to the text instead of sitting above or below it. I bet all those other photos this CL has posted are jealous now!

So, just what am I to become if not a pullover? I will be a cardigan. A nice, preppy colored cardigan with some awesome matching buttons. See that dot at the bottom there. It's an almost perfect match. The blue is just a tad off, more periwinkle than my blue. But other than that, just how could a more perfect button be found? Not through searching for it. And to think, those buttons were just sitting in a box here at home.

See that other thing in the photo there. The words? They are what will allow me to be a cardigan, even though I do not look like one now. I will be getting the snip! Eek! Hope this CL knows what she is doing.

Had a great day today. I judged the 8-18 year old needlecrafters at the County Fair. Don't worry, I was gentle with them. The surprise was a delightful young lad who had knit a pair of felted clogs. And then needlefelted his sister's name and some designs on them. He did a great job! Another wonderful item was Beatrice from Berroco. The young lady had used 2 variegated yarns and they blended together very well. Her workmanship was wonderful. All in all the knit and crochet fields were well represented. I also judged cross-stitch and needlepoint items. I was very impressed with the skill and workmanship shown on the pieces. Now to enter my own items tomorrow. I am just glad we don't have to sit one on one with a judge for our items.

Tonight was a wonderful event. I ended up having an impromptu dinner with my knit buds. The menu was: Homemade Lasagna, Garden Salad, Honeydew Melons, Brownies, Homemade Ice Cream, Pistachio Pudding desert and soft drinks. It was delicious. But the fun with friends was even better. Some lovely stuff was being knit. I kept trying to work on that "mindless knitting" scarf I started last week. I kept ripping back on that mindless knitting scarf! The pattern isn't hard, it's just keeping track I have a problem with.

Time for bed. If I don't/didn't answer your call on the blog on Sunday it was due to maintenance. They are releasing a new version and I am sure I will love whatever upgrades have been made. Blog-City is the best service I have found. Prompt feedback, over and above service, along with a great system will keep me here. As long as I have knitting to talk about, I will be telling you all about it!

Check out Knit Wit's post for July 20th. It's not for the squeamish, or those who like Ghardetto's.

Another shot of Flower Basket Scawl. I am still thinking to buy it and keep, but then I found my other 2 skeins of Koigu. I had 3, then could only find 1 skein. Thought I had sent off the other 2 for a swap or secret knitter package. And then while trying to find the felted clogs I made for a gift, which I have lost, I found the other 2 skeins. Now if only I could find those clogs! So I am thinking I will make a Flower Basket with the Koigu. Or not. I still want to make one with the Claudia's Handpaint when it hits the shop. Soon, soon, I hope! And then I realized that I can make a Ene's Scarf by Nancy Bush in Scarf Style, instead of another FBS, with my Misti Alpaca. It calls for double strand Blackberry Ridge lace, which I have heard is larger than laceweight. So, maybe I could use the 1 strand of Misti Alpaca and knit that. It takes 350(?) yards of BBR and I have 450 yards of MA. Anyone made this and have a clue?

Blessings: Great friends and a chance to knit with them. Just wish everyone could have come over.
