Memories

posted Friday, 24 October 2008
Today will be full of them for Hubster and family. Every year around this time, we gather for Pizza. We do so in remembrance of Hubster's brother David. A life cut short over 25 years ago. He was killed in a traffic accident before school one morning. He was riding a borrowed Moped and darted out into traffic on a busy street. A move that impacted a family forever. It took away Hubster's best friend. They were close in years and did everything together. If David was invited to a party, he didn't go unless Hubster could come too. David was the one who shot Hubster. Yes, shot him. At a friend's house, "look at my dad's gun", playing around, aimed at Hubster, oops. Hubster has a hole in his forearm from the bullet. Fragments would work to the surface now and then. I believe it's the reason he's been hit by lightning 3 times. One was a direct hit.

From all accounts, David was a wonderful artist. We have a piece of his artwork in our home. It will always have a place in our home. I sit beneath it every day as I post my blog. We have speculated on how he did this piece, but we don't know for sure. We also have David's guitar. We should mount it and have it displayed too. Right now it hides under our bed. I cannot understand the loss Hubster felt that day.

I do not look forward to the day when I will feel that loss. I just count myself lucky that I have had so many years to continue to enjoy my siblings, even when we don't see eye to eye. I hope that you have not experienced that loss in your life.

Last night we had knitting class at the shop. I laughed soooo hard, I was crying! All in regards to a little blue pill they advertise on TV. I was trying to get the ends woven in on Princella so I could call it done. But it wasn't until I was home for a bit that I finally got the last one woven and the seams done. And I am not too pleased with the one seam. But it isn't going to get any better. I have decided that I will do the pieces separately if I ever do it again. I have tried it all ways, and seaming pieces makes the best finish. I actually am thinking I will do this for Younger, just use Worsted Weight to get the larger size. I will have to run the numbers.

And here is the darling Princella.

I wish for you a wonderful weekend. I am blissfully sitting here knowing that I don't have to be anywhere, anytime soon. I have nothing planned this morning. And I don't have to cook tonight. Ah! Life. Amazing what pleasure we can take in the "simple things"!
