Quick note

posted Tuesday, 10 January 2006

Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes. It truly was a wonderful weekend birthday. Started celebrating on Saturday and just continued on to Monday. I will try to highlght all my lovely gifts later. Right now I am having problems, chest pain, flushed, light headed and nauseous. After consulting with my Nurses (MIL and friend) I am waiting to call the Dr to see if I have Pleurisy or Pneumonia. From the location of the pain I was sure I wasn't having a heart attack. I just didn't know what it could be that would hit in waves and bring me, literally, to my knees. Was scaring the girls who were waiting for the bus.*

I was a bad girl and started a mitten last night. My Handknit Holidays book came and who could resist. Especially since I had the yarn just waiting for me to start. Keefely Mittens was designed by an online friend who I get to see briefly at Stitches each year. JoLene is truly talented in the knit design area. Here is my wrist so far, ready to start the thumb gusset soon. I started on a US 5, now I have changed to a US4, and I may have to finish with a US3. The teacher's hands are smaller than mine, so I need to be aware of fit.

Hoping I can convert the charts for a hat to match. JoLene thinks she might get around to it, but I plan to gift these this year. I will just do a simple hat with this motif at the bottom and then leave off the lattice at the top. I can't figure out how to decrease away the sts with the lattice in play. Maybe I will just do a lice stitch and alternate the light purple and rose on the plum background. We'll see. Oh no, I just saw a mistake! Look at the top of the mitt. The rose should have a 2 row block before I switched to the light purple. Glad I saw it now, with only 4 rows to rip out.

Now I must get ready and be prepared to run my Younger to her Dr visit and see when my Dr can see me. It's getting better, I have now gone 15 minutes without an episode. This morning it was one on top of the other.

*Home from 4 hours in the ER. Nothing was found, still have a mild pain, nitrous spray put me into a severe lowering of my blood pressure, that was scarey. They have referred me back to my Dr for a stress test. Hubster asked what would happen if they told me I had to stop knitting. I replied "I would just knit through the pain". Couldn't even knit during the 4 hour stay since they had a pulse monitor and Heparin Lock on my hand.
