Trimmed to the bone

posted Thursday, 13 December 2007

Not a food item, my Elder's tooth cutting experience. She had 4 teeth and 1 tooth bud (extra it would seem) cut out today. The right lower jaw had the extra bud and it was blocking 2 teeth from coming in. Only there was only room for one tooth. So, out the 4 came and hopefully now she will have enough room for the teeth to fill in. But that extra sure did cause problems. They had to trim back the bone to get to it. What is it with jaws, teeth and tiny mouths in my family? My TMJ has been caused by my small mouth and bite issue, so it was imperative that we stave off this type of problem for the girls.

I just wish it could have been any other way but pulling teeth. She had a dose of Nitrous to get her going. When I went back in to get her she was sitting in the chair twitching. Not sure why and it really concerned me. But she finally was able to get up and get to the car to leave. 4 hours later and she is finally ready to try some ice cream. She hasn't eaten since 8:30 last night. I thought it was don't eat for 12 hours, I think it was only 2 hours! Poor thing. I told her pthat arents always wish they could take a child's illness or pain away.....but no way was I going to wish for her pain today! Been there, done that too many times. And after my dentist appt yesterday I am headed back for more TMJ treatment.

The pain and popping are back. Due to stress I am sure, but without a way to stop the upheaval in our lives right now, I don't see the stress going away. Which also makes me feel bad. Because I am so blessed and have little to be stressed about. But I guess it's all relative. What may cause one stress, may not affect another in the same way. We each must learn to deal with it as we can.

And lots of stress has been caused by my own hand. Making Christmas presents that I never intended to. Oh well. All I can do now is get them done.

Yesterday some of the knit ladies had their Christmas gifts to hand out, mine won't be ready until next week. I received a hand knit soap bag with soap, a visor clip that will help hold things on my visor, a small container from Germany, some scented soap, and 2 Starbuck's gift cards! I have already almost used up the gift cards. Hot Chocolate with light whip cream and a shot of Peppermint. Yummy!

OK, I guess I am rambling now. Time to work on the gifts I will be giving and the corn hole bags I need to finish up. Do you know how hard it is to stuff unpopped corn in bags and get them stuffed as full as possible, and keeping them stuffed while sewing the opening up? Durn hard! I'd rather have teeth pulled. NOT!

Time to warm up the mashed potatoes, but not too warm!

Blessings: Elder pulled through the oral surgery just fine. Now to get her to 100% so she won't miss her basketball game.

Update: She felt well enough to go to school today. But only after sitting on the floor of the bathroom trying to equalize herself. Lack of food and pain meds made her a little woozy. Hopefully she well find something at school she can handle for lunch. I won't be able to run anything to her since I work today.
