Where have I been?

I have spent the last few days on my couch. I don't think it's a flu, likely a sinus thing, but the sinus isn't draining, so I am not sure. Of course the full dosage of allergy meds likely has kept the sinus blocked. The itching seems to have stopped, but I will know more later in the day as the meds wear off. All I know is, while up and about I am weak as a puppy. Trying to do laundry just about does me in. Fuddled mind leads to funny moments in spoken words.
As a result, no knitting has taken place. I have done a ton of puzzles, been online rarely, and have slept a lot. I even forgot to show my recent book purchase. Norwegian Handknits was bought sight unseen on the recommendation of Nanette. The first few pages of patterns are less than awesome. Some pieces done in the same stitch pattern, columns of garter stitch and stockinette/garter stitch. 2 hats, 1 blanket, mittens and a headband. Really, you could have stopped with the hats.
But there are 4 patterns I will likely get around to making someday. The cover project is a backpack. I love this! Even would consider doing the embroidery on it. But definitely in brighter colors, even if the black and white is traditional. Maybe denim and cream? Or olive and cream with brown and orange accents? Must stash dive. Only, I know I don't have sportweight to use. So maybe just use worsted and make it larger.
These are a likely to be knit item too. Hats and mittens can always be used by someone, right? Just need to see what kind of yarn I have that is in the stash. It calls for Falk knit on a size 4 needle. The only sportweight I have on hand is baby yarn. Not a wealth of adult colors there.
And an absolutely will be made item. I love this hat. So, now to find some yarn that will work for it. 2 skeins, or 220 yds of main color and 109 of the accent. Hmm, what do I have that would work. Again, sportweight yarn. Wait, I have some purple and chartreuse 501 yarn, DK weight. It's close enough? And I love those two colors together!
But those knits are for another day. Right now I need to get ready to go watch my niece's soccer game. It's the sectional championship game. Go Panthers!
